Quick sorting (using Irfanview)

How to quickly go through your pictures and choose the one's you like best

wouldn't it be nice to go over the 100+ pictures you just took , viewing them in full size and do not have to wait forever for them to load on the screen? And how about the headache of picking the pictures you like to print and then writing down the file name on a paper in order to copy them to your Disk-On-Key?

With Irfanview it is EASY!

  1. Make Irfanview your default software for viewing files.

    A. right click on any image file (jpg) you might have

    B. select : OPEN WITH

    C. select : CHOOSE PROGRAM

    D. select: Irfanview from the list or browse to find it on your hard drive.

    E. Before you click OK make sure you check the “always use the selected program to open

    this kind of file”

  1. once you're done setting Irfanview as your default, double click on one of the images you'd like to view

  2. The image will open in Irfanview. you can play with VIEW->DISPLAY OPTIONS (I like choosing FIT ONLY BIG IMAGES TO DESKTOP.)

  3. In order to best see the files Click ENTER, and the image will open in Full screen mode.

  4. Now just click on the arrow buttons to see the next/previous images. You'll be amazed by how fast the images shift

How do you quickly save the files you would like to print, edit or resize on another folder ?

  1. I usually save all my files in a folder that contains the date and place or event – let's say : 2008-05-31 Ricks wedding. Then I make a new folder named “For Editing”. In this folder I'll have a copy of the images I'd like to edit (a copy to keep the originals save)

  2. While viewing my originals, when I see an image I'd like to edit (or save for printing etc) I'll just click F8 . In the Copy file(s) window I'll put the folder destination in the first spot. ( c:\my pictures\ 2008-05-31 Ricks wedding\ For Editing)

  3. Once I define the target folder I just hit the correct number under the Use Directory

  4. After the first time we save a picture, the target folder will stay so you can just click F8 and the the "1" button ant that's it!!

  5. In case you would like to MOVE files instead of COPY them, do the same as above but while pressing the F7 button

That's All. now go and give it a try...
